    Is it possible to get xCode for free without having to pay for a developer's account?

    Yes - register at Register as an Apple Developer for a free account. This gives you access to xCode and shipping SDKs for OS X 10.6 and iPhone OS 3.x

    If you want access to not yet released versions of OS X or iPhone OS (and the SDKs that are associated with these beta versions) then you need to be a paid developer.

    Oh cool thanks. I thought to become a developer you have to pay a yearly subscription.
