Default upgrading old school mac mini...

getting an early mac mini soon off a mate. its not an itel, i think its either 1.42Ghz or 1.25Ghz.

id like to know how much i can upgrade it.

can i fit an intel processor? is the sound card upgradeable,

id really like the option of optical sound out.

how big/what speed hard drive will it take? from factory it was 40/80G can i go bigger?

last but not least... the factory spec says a max of 1g ram. will it handle more.

the main use of it will be for watching hd films.

need to know as much as poss before i commit to buying it

turns out you cant upgrade the processor. and apparently the most ram you can fit in is 1g. any one know if it'll cope with more

you can't replace the audio card, video card and processor because they are soldered to the motherboard

The maximum amount of RAM that you can insert 1 GB
    Maximum HD: 160 Gb ATA

For the HD playback it's bad choice. Because the computer to slow, it will handle only 480p and no more. For normal smooth playback 1080p video you will need macmini2,1 or better, I would advise macmini3,1 because it has better video card

    sorry for my English
