Default snow leopard osx installation error

We have a 13" Macbook, bought a new hard drive, bought Mac OS X Snow leopard 10.6.3, formatted new hard drive, erased by writing all zeros, when we try to install the 10.6.3 the installation gets to 29 minutes left and stops, and gives the error: Installation failed, unable to install support files. Is anyone out there able to give advice on this error and how to resolve the issue? Any response is very much appreciated.

Well, if you bought leo declared as "new" then it should'nt be scratched. Support files usually don't depend on specific hardware configuration, usually. So try to make a bootable image of the DVD, and copy it to an external usb HD and start the installer from there. Open disk utility and choose "Restore to do so, Source: DVD and Destination: External HD. Or even better, partition your macbook's internal HD into 2 parts (btw, you should allwas do this) restore the DVD image to the second partition and boot the mac from there and choose partition 1 as installation partition.
