Default Printing to an AirPort Extreme Through the Internet

Has anybody successfully been able to print to their airport over the internet? I was able to configure it with DynDNS and access the USB drive connected to my AirPort Extreme but I don't know exactly how to go about setting up the printer. In System Preferences there are several options for IP printers but known of them make enough sense to be configured properly.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So you're saying that you want to print thru your WAN? or just LAN?

Are you sure that you have resolved the ".local" (bonjour) address to an IP?
If you did, check the NAT/port forwarding.

I had setup an AirPort Extreme at a friend's house, but they don't seem to provide much in terms of printing through the WAN port that is not connected to a LAN

(If you're seriously doing this you might like to consider actually buying a printer server. AE's functionality is extremely limited in this sense. printer servers cost ~$45-70)

This is what I have done so far:

In the AirPort Utility under the AirPort Tab -> Base Station Tab -> Edit button I filled in my "dynamic global hostname" from dyndns.com. Then under the printer tab I have enabled "Share printers over Ethernet WAN port".

My question is after doing all that is in System Preferences how do I go about adding that printer?

First, because the "Share printers over Ethernet WAN port" only applies to incidences where the WAN port connects to a LAN. The "technology" that the printer is based on is called Bonjour, which is a local-area service.

Second, judging from your previous post, I seriously suggest you either just set up a VPN or VLAN to connect to the printer, because it simplifies all that anyway...
