Using Uno to make everything match
Ok, this isn't anything new, just a compilation of stuff other people already did.
I downloaded Extras2Extras2 from here
And I downloaded Uno 1.2 and Ituno from here
I got an Uno Firefox skin from here
And blended it in with uno using directions from here
So that is all you need to make this happen. But for anyone that needs step by step instructions, I give you the following:
Mount the Uno and Ituno dmgs, right-click the Apps and Show Package Contents.
Go to Contents/Resources, and find the rsrc files in each. Ituno has Itunes.rsrc and Uno has Extras.rsrc
Move these somewhere, your Desktop for example.
To apply Uno to Finder/Quicktime do the following:
Open Extras2Extras2, and Click Convert a Resource File. Open the Extras.rsrc you just pulled out of Uno
Save this as Extras2.rsrc
Now navigate in Finder to /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A/Resources/
In there you'll find Extras.rsrc and Extras2.rsrc
Copy both somewhere for safe keeping, you'll want this if you want to revert to normal Aqua
Now, right-click them and Move to Trash
Drag in the new Uno Extras2.rsrc you just converted, as well as the Uno Extras.rsrc
Now Finder and Quicktime will be pretty on your next reboot
To apply Uno to Itunes do the following
Go to your applications folder, and right-click Itunes
Click Show Package Contents, and navigate to Contents/Resources
Copy Itunes.rsrc to some backup location, and drag in the file you pulled from Ituno
This is all that is necessary, you can see your new Itunes once you run it.
To apply Uno to Firefox do the following
Install the Uno theme from the link above
Go to the directions link, and download toolbar-bg.png
Open a text editor (like TextEdit) and paste in the following:
menubar, toolbox, toolbar {
border-top: 0px !important;
background: url("toolbar-bg.png") repeat-x !important;
}
Save this file as userChrome.css
Put these 2 files in your Firefox profile folder
~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxxx.default/chrome/ the x'd will be different for each person
Now Firefox will play nice with Uno, and everything will look sexy.
Edit:
If you use Adium X, and you want it to match as well, try Metal Adium X. It's a whole separate app, but it uses the same look as Uno, and is otherwise the same as Adium X.
Edit 2:
Added the step of copying the Uno Extras.rsrc along with Extras2.rsrc (Extras.rsrc affects programs launched w/ Rosetta)
Real Edit 3:
Uno 1.3 got released a while back, and it is now a Universal Binary. So there is no need to do your own conversion anymore. It also includes iTuno as part of it's installer. Uno 1.3 + the Firefox steps of this tutorial is all you need now.
