Trouble installing virtualization software e.g. Parallels & VMware
I have been trying to get Parallels 3.0 and the VMware Beta to install a copy of XP for playing old games in OSx.
I am currently using Uphuck's 1.3 DVD with SSE2 kernel om a P4 Northwood.
I can load up the Parallels app just fine, cycle through the options wizard but when it comes to the point where I have to select an installation source (ISO or cdrom) and click 'Install' the entire machine goes out to lunch. Keyboard and mouse become unresponsive, all the symptoms of a kernel crash.
I can only presume its something to do with the kext's.
Does anyone know what might be causing it? Known issue?
I tried to install from an iso of XP after the CDROM I have crashed the first time.
Same issue. Just crashes the machine instant you press INSTALL.
I figured I'd try out VMware and same thing happens.
I checked out the system logs, but its crashing the machine instantly so nothing is being recorded about it.
