I recently moved from pc to mac, im using a macbook air. downloading torrents on my pc using my home wireless network always worked flawlessly. but im trying to ownload torrents on the mac using transmission, and it doesnt work, and transmission says the port is closed... whats wrong? it worked fine on my pc
The port is closed ;-) Check with the Firewall in Mac OS X and open the port Transmission wants you to open. Firewall is in Systempreferences->Security->Firewall. If you run a router betwenn the Mac and the Internet make sure to open the port there aswell.Quote:

There are three radio-buttons, hit the last one offering to grant access for services and programms. Then hit the tiny + sign in the lower section of the window, select Transmission and via pulldown to allow incoming connections.Quote:

In Transmission goto "Preferences->Network" and check the listening port. A red dot indicates that it is blocked. Make sure the port is open on your router.Quote:
