importing iphoto albums to lightroom so that you can sync iphone

i'd been using iphoto and syncing photos to my 3GS using selective albums from iphoto as my source. now i'd like to use lightroom. it's easy to import new photos from my camera roll to lightroom. BUT, syncing? how dow i sync with lightroom and not mess up my albums that were organized using iphoto?

do i have to start from scratch in lightroom. is there any way to keep my original iphone album organization already committed to my iphone. it seems like i have to re-sync the photos every time?

Why cant you import the photos to iPhoto from where Lightroom stored them?
Or tell LR to store photos where iP stores them.

I know LR not iP but you can store photos all over a network with LR
