Open the disk utility and run check permissions.
Try the following. Create on the drive where the files are a folder called "DEL" without the quotes, then move all the files from the trash in this folder.
Run terminal.app and write the following:
sudo rm -rf
- then Just select a folder "DEL" without the quotes and copy paste it into the terminal.app
- then it should look like this:
- for startup disk orCode:sudo rm -rf /del
- where xxx name of the disk for external disk (not startup)Code:sudo rm -rf /volumes/xxx/del
hit enter
enter password
hit enter
Be careful this command could destroy everything!
Just click twice on the Macintosh HD and create a folder DEL (no in the trash) it must be outside the trash
Аbout an external disk, each other disk or partition has it own trash
Sorry for my English. Ukrainian :)
gnommak u are the best ever! it worked u just saved me it already became like 25 GB in there and now it's all gone, it sucks i will have to do it every time but still u really helped me man and u did a great job;)
I am glad that it helped for you. I would recommend not to play with this command. Once I deleted a half disk and lost many files.
i'll try not to though it's addictive, now i transfer every file i need into trash and once a week i will do it to all files build up there, good thing though i have it all backed up so even if all delete all my disk i can retrieve it:D but still i prefer not to. anyway it helped me a lot and BTW there filed disappear right? they are not stored somewhere else the just get erased and vanish i hope:)
