annoying mac os x....

Isn't it interesting how CCC can make a full clone of your current hard drive even though the OS is running?

Then how come diskaid can't do it's job while the OS is running? (Repair disk)

Especialy when some problems are not even related to OS files.....

Windows can chkdsk itself on reboot just fine, and fix all of its problems, but NOOOOO, freakin diskaid can't do that.....

what windows can't doo is make a clone of itself while the os is running, which seems ok and reasonable to me, but then again, how come mac os x is able to do THAT, but it ain't able to diskaid itself without the os dvd, which a lot of people lack due to buying second hand macs...?

Diskaid, I'm guessing, is for troubleshooting problems. and the unix equivalent to chkdsk would be fsck, I believe.

dude, just explain to me WHY disk repair is NOT able to run while the OS is running, even though CCC can make a FULL backup of the OS as it is running. Doesn't that seem stupid to you?

ok, but WHY????
how come a ghost clone tool can clone the WHOLE thing WHILE ITS RUNNING, but the system can't do a disk repair?

im no expert here, but a clone disk just copies information from one media to another.

CHKDSK, checks bite information, validity , (heads + Cylinders etc), so to run this while powered on running OSX wouldn't be as useful as booting from a DVD for example.

You may preach about WINDOWS! but VISTA! when you select to do a chkdsk will ask you to REBOOT the system so that when it starts it can run scandisk / chkdsk. This is so that NO program can interfere with the running of the application.

WHY are you so negative about MAC's this is like you 3rd Thread about MACs being useless.

dude, all versions of windows CAN'T run chkdsk while they are running. That is ok with me, it seems just fine. And also, there is no versions of windows that can do a full backup clone of its OS while its running, which also seems ok to me, since those system files are in use.

MAC can't run disk repair (chkdsk) not even if you beat it with a baseball bat!
at least windows is able to do it on reboot, BUT NOOOOOOO MAC WONT, BECAUSE of its comunist design. You have to have the freakin CD/DVD in order to do that.

What seems very interesting to me is that, CCC is able to make a full backup clone of the current running OS with no problems.

Now would you PLEASE eplain that to me?
How come this OS is able to make a clone of itself while it's running (which includes running system files) but it can't even schedule a disk repair on reboot???????????????????????????????????????????? ?????

Disk cloning does some of the same things that disk repair and chkdsk do: THEY ALL OPERATE WITH SYSTEM FILES!

Now would you please explain to me how come this is possible?

I do NOT like any Mac OS due to the comunist footprint of Apple which is everywhere to be found!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They take advantage of basic everyday stuff and exclude it from current releases, just to annoy people, and to have them buy their next OS which fixes some of the burnig issues, but, unfortunately and totally predictable, NOT ALL issues.

Windows is so much more democratic!

If you have ever tried anything I've suggested, you would find that fsck works in Single User Mode.

And Operating Systems have nothing to do with political ideologies. Even if that was the case I would liken Windows to Dictatorship and Mac OS X to democracy with a communist economic policy because OS X is built on Darwin, open sourced code; Windows is built on DOS, which is propriety from the start

Disk cloning is entirely independent from Apple's technical development/software engineering, and it is the third party software that you use. Please refer to the vendor's technical support for information regarding this.

Disk repair does not "operate with system files"; it works with the filesystem.

(Disk Utility is able to verify/repair filesystems also... why didn't you use it?)

Sounds more like Microsoft. I couldn't understand what you have on Windows that you cannot do on Mac?

And if what you said is true, Mac OS X market share wouldn't be doubling every other year.
