When I try to start the mac I hear the post chime and that's it. The screen stays black no boot nohing. I am dual booting with vista. Ugh. I saw on a earlier post a user was having an identical problem. It was said that it was a vista update that messed it up. My question is if their is a solution or not? The previous post didn't even hint to a solution. I am searching using my itouch but am having no luck with a solution. Anything will help. Thanks in advance.


Update. I've left the mac on for charging the itouch and after 30min or so it played the vista login screen tone. The screen is still black.

Do you get a white screen before it turns back?

Does pressing the left option/alt bring up the boot volume manager?
(if not you're screwed.. the EFI chip is corrupted because Vista is trying to flash it like a BIOS... Well you'll have to take it to AppleCare, and try not to install anything else from CRAPSOFT. hehe. )

No activity whatsoever, and no key combo seems to have any effect. I took it to my local apple store and the "genius" kept insisting on replacing the monitor and hdd. LOL I talked him out of any expensive instore troubleshooting and had them send it to the "depo" Once I get a responce as to what the problem is I will post it here. It Is kinda funny because no more then 20 min after the mac died my 360 gpu seperated from the mobo LOL needless to say I'm not the happist with microsoft right now haha. At least my itouch is still working!
