Unhappy please help! 2010 macbook pro will not boot

i bought a 2010 13" macbook pro on craigslist and erased the hd and now it will not boot. ive formatted it as mac os extended (journaled) and tried to install from my bf's replacement snow leopard disk and even taken the hard drive out and plugged it into his 2009 macbook pro and re-formatted the HD and installed but then when i put it back into my mb it goes to the white apple screen and then after a few min the screen turns dark gray and a screen pops up that says, "you need to restart your computer..." PLEASE HELP

is it a retail copy of snow leopard? or just a set of restore discs that came with the other mac?

You're getting a kernel panic. If it booted originally, then it is likely due to bad software. I would recommend either calling AppleCare and getting the original install disc for approximately $16, or buying the retail copy of Snow Leopard for $29 and doing a clean install. You might be better off calling AppleCare, as you can get the original Install DVD and Application Install DVD, which would get you the OS and iLife (iPhoto, etc)

Problem is that the replacement disc is not a universal OSX disc. When you buy a Mac, the reinstall disc that comes with it will only work with the exact computer model the install disc was for. So, you'd need to get a new Snow Leopard disc, which, for $30 isn't so bad. Also, you can try eBay, or something and get it even cheaper.

Aww come on people, no one can tell what is going on if you don't boot with apple+v (verbose mode) and tell us what error lines the boot screen spits out. I guess i need to change my signature to "Boot failure? Boot with apple+v for more infos!!!1"
