Default Parallels doesn't run BootCamp VM

    Hello,

I made a WIndows partition with BootCamp and installed XP on it...

Then I installed Parallels Desktop and it found BootCamp Partition as Virtual Machine...

But whenever I try to run it via Parallels - it fails saying "Impossible to open BootCamp VM"

why is that? Is it vital to first install Parallels and only then through it create VM and install XP?

Why are you installing parallels ? You either run bootcamp as a seperate OS or you run parallels as a virutal OS .

There is little point in having both , but each to their own.

You cannot run the bootcamp partition as a parallels virtual machine. It doesnt work like that . Under parallels, the software sets up its own file that is used as virtual disk space, it doenst partition your drive.
