    32 Bit, @ Spec09 - will this cause a problem with the obsolete 1GB Ram on XP?

    even tho it's not aimed at me, clarify plz.

    1GB of RAM is more than enough to run XP. (256MB for limited usage if i recall correctly)

    and no, 1GB is well within the 3.2GB limit of 32bit addressing problems...

    I bought 4GB of memory and got the SOS beeping upon reboot. which indicates that it is needing new firm ware update, so I took the memory out and put in a 2GB chip in the slot closest to the side of the computer and put the original 1 GB Chip in the other slot. It worked fine with 3 gigs of RAM. Works for me and no more fuss.
