    Charging cycles. 1 cycle is when you use 100% of the battery charge, regardless if you have recharged it in between.

    You can check this under the Power section of System Profiler

    from personal experience i would suggest charging it and using till it needs another charge. im on my third battery (all replaced by apple even thogh last battery replacement was out of warrenty) and the last battery i had heated up and expanded so much it cause the trackpad clicking to not work! guy in the store said it was due to the plug being constantly plugged in! dunno how much truth in that but im very careful now cos the batteries cost a small fortune!
