I need to emulate windows, perferably XP, on my 1.25 G4 mac mini.
Running 10.4.11 with 512 MB ram.

Wife is a teacher and her school district is so backwards that the IT people can't even write a website that will work with safari. Hell, she calls for support and the guy comes and looks at the computers and shrugs. I usually come out to her classroom to fix it.

She just needs to be able to surf internet to answer emails on their a$$ backwards site and put in her students grades running 1 program that connects to put in the grades. No other stuff would be installed.

Is there a solution to this? I tried Q(I think that was the name) but it did not work. It would be nice to have a new intel mac but wallet says no!

So I was looking for and emulation solution that would work.

Any suggestions please.

I would recomend boot camp witch allows you to run windows xp or vista, judging by your configuration parallels might run slugish even tho it's more beneficial, however there's a rumored feature coming in snow leopard that will allow you to transfer between your osx and windows files very simple

Try VirtualBox
. Not sure how it will run with your specs, but it's free so worth a try. It works perfectly on my MB Pro.

XP runs very, very well with VirtualBox. It is one of the best virtualization products, and it is free!

Microsoft Virtual PC should be good.

I'd go with Boot Camp.

Save your files on your Windows partition (assuming you're using FAT32 formatting). OS X can read/write to them there.

I think he is on PPC Mini, bootcamp wont run on PPC.

VirtualPc is one but it can be very slow.

if you just need it for internet surfing, try Firefox or Opera maybe the school site will be fine with it.
