Discuss just got a Powermac G4 trying to install ??? at the Genuine Mac Support - Hackint0sh.org; First off hello and i have turned to this forum to help thru a install ...

    Default just got a Powermac G4 trying to install ???

    First off hello and i have turned to this forum to help thru a install process

    i jsut got this G4 gigabit version 500MHZ 640 ram with no HD

    so i put a 40 GB in it and tried booting with my install disk that came with my MB well to my surprise it will start then say it cant install so im stuck i have functions like disk utility and such

    anyway i found a torrent for 10.4 so i downloaded it and unzipped burned the first .dmg image to a CD and rebooted and it jsut gets and error to the tune of were waiting something .......

    How can i go about actually building this Mac with out buying real disks????

    oh and will the DVD-RAM drive not read a CD-r ? i heard of issues wih imation cd-r's so i tried a TDK and still no luck

    all help appreciated

    Just to clarify:

    So you have a G4, you want to reinstall.
    You insert the burned CD, then what happened?

    Did you press alt/option to chose which one to boot to?
    or did you just pressed "C" to boot to CD?
    ( it might be a corrupt partition table... )

    command+option+P+R made the install a reality

    that command clears the vram and nvram

    then walla OSX was installed

    If that's the case the problem is that the computer "thinks" it's netbooting...
