Default iBook G4 wont boot into single user or into OSX

the ibook will hang at the apple logo with the spinning thing below it for hours.........

and when i try to start up in single user it just hangs on the command:
"CSRHIDTransitionDriver: :start booting in single user ... will wait for window Server"

and wont go anywhere....im not a complete newbie, i have tried reseting ram and power, even reset firmware and all that good stuff and its getting me no where

i do know that the HDD still works at least because it will show up when i firewire it with my other mac but other than that im stuck

Sounds like the some OS files were corrupted...

Assuming it's not firmware/boot code problems. go into Target Disk Mode, backup, reinstall (archive & reinstall option.).

Well I couldn't think of one other than lending one from a friend or torrenting one... I'll try to think of something... but for the meanwhile that's all I can say.
