HELP! Keyboard and trackpad stop working
Hello. When I start my MacBook Pro (new model), keyboard and trackpad don't work. I am able manipulate with power button only. I have Mac OS X 10.5.6 and when try to startup from installation CD (10.5.5) I have only option ERASE and NEW Install. I installed Mac OS X on external drive and now I can see all files on my HDD... Any idea?

I am experiencing a similar problem. It is not on start up but rather at random instances. I have an older MacBook Pro that I got last March. I have experienced this problem coming our of the screen saver as well as just doing normal work. The mouse will just freeze where ever it is and the keyboard doesn't work. Like MikeRus, the power button works but I can not use the keyboard to switch options. If I hold the power button down and let it reboot everything works like normal when I get back into the OS. For me this is happening once every 2 or 3 days.
Any ideas?
RizWan ~ I did do the fix that you linked to but read through the post and all I could see is some guy had the problem when his Mac lost power and corrpted something.

I have this problem on a regular basis, usually when coming out of standby/sleep mode. Open the laptop, enter my pass, everything seems all and well then suddenly the trackpad stops working--keyboard still works though.
My workaround without a reboot is start Parallels, boot WinXP, go to Devices -> USB and click Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad. Once XP takes over the device, release the device (follow the same steps: Devices -> USB, etc.) Now it works again in OS X. I usually attach a USB mouse even though the keyboard works; I can't always remember the shortcut keys to get to the appropriate menu item.
Is there a way to achieve the same result using terminal avoiding Parallels altogether? That'd be nice. I guess it's just a matter of reinitializing the device?
