Default Hard Disk data not opening!

I bought a macbook pro recently and so I transferred all the data from windows to an external hard disk. But when I plugged in the hard disk to the mac I cannot see any of the files I pasted there!

Could you please help me with this as I don't have my windows pc anymore and need some data urgently.

    Thanks!

    You forgot this:

    NTFS-3G: Stable Read/Write NTFS Driver

@OP you might like to reformat your HDD maybe sometime later with one partition NTFS and one FAT32 to ensure compatibility.
