Default ehd with itunes lib crashed. how to I copy back from a CCC backup?

    Hi,

my ehd crashed (the one that I was using for my Itunes library)

fortunately, I did a CCC to a separate EHD last summer so I have most of the music.

I know how to do CCC and I know how to MOVE my itunes folder and consolidate.

But now, what I want to do is COPY my itunes library from my current bootable EHD (from the CCC) and move it back to my main HD. But I do not want to "move the library" and consolidate. I want to keep a back up on the EHD in case this happens again...

Can you please post a link? or explain how to do it?

Sorry if I'm taking this the wrong way, but from my understanding you want to "copy" instead of "move"?

(if so the solutions shouldn't be that hard... but then I'm probably wrong about all this.)

(but then, "consolidating your library" also means "copying", so am I missing something here?)

my understanding that consolidating to a new folder just moving the files from all folders to 1. It doesn't mean copy at all... but I may be wrong.

You are essentially correct. But the function used to "move" the files is to copy. (Move implies that the file is no longer at it's original place but at it's new place— copy means that both the orig and the new place has the file.)

Best bet is to copy everything into the iTunes Library folder then get iTunes to "scan" your Music folder for files. (Using the import function, if I recall correctly.)
