What are the benefits of disabling Beamsync and what does beamsync actually do?

as far as i've read, disabling beamsync turns off a double-buffering of the screen which is needed to reduce tearing on CRT monitors, but is un-needed on modern LCD screens.

originally this tweak was used to fix slow exposé, and choppy dock, when 10.4 came out.

i haven't found much about it online. googled the daylights out of it when i first read about it.

the results are measured in xbench graphical scores, which however accurate or inaccurate they might be, do reflect an actual improvement in speed of GUI, iTunes visualization speed, etc.

if you come across any further information about it, post it here in this thread. we all have questions.
