yeah, try logging in as root with only a usb mouse................
why does mac have to be so anti-user?
windows can easily do that without logging in as a freakin' root.
and no, the mac os x 4.11's keyboard viewer does not run under logon mode.
This os just misses basic gui functionalities. Maybe the other versions are better than this one. SOrry then, but this one is just annoying.........
and btw, windows can do all of that without using a freakin' gui stripped terminal...............................

oh yes, and if anyone is doubting my friendship with xianli, ask him how many times he DMZ'd into my iphone so we could fix BSD issues.

by the way, WHY ON EARTH should a apps menu bar (like firefox mozzila 3.0.6, the one with file, edit, view, history, bookmarks) remain at the top of a window??????
    WHY??????????????????????????????
dude, if you happen to have your mac hooked up to a big plasma (like my aunt has) won't YOUR neck hurt from all of that stupid looking up thing??????
why don't they just fix it in an update?

oh, wait, this question should go first, WHY does this require so much programming for such a highly advanced OS?
windows is so much more eloquent when dealing with multiple opened windows!!!!!

man, I just can't believe how you don't know that disk repair, or repair disk is a button inside disk utility..........
maybe you never saw it because freakin' mac can't even schedule it on an os restart....................
windows can also run chkdsk off it's cd/dvd, ALTHOUGH you do not explicitly need that in order to run chkdsk on any hdd connected to your pc computing machine.
do you have any knowledge about the Mac BootCD?
do you know just HOW this cd was requested by the worldwide mac community?
    do you know why?
read my posts on this thread and you'll understand.... (I hope)

has it come to your knowledge that most linux distros (mainly ubuntu) can deal with the menu bar problems just fine?
you can edit the menu bar on top of the screen of a 8.10 ubuntu, and make it look EXACTLY like a windows bottom bar with start, quicklaunch, app pad (or how it's called), time and afferent running apps......................
how would you like linux to be so narrowheaded having all of the opening apps menu bars on top?????

    THAT WOULD BE INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!

+1 rep for linux, -1 rep for mac on this.........
the arguments just keep on pilling up.........
if you're a developer used with always writing lots of manual commands, you may not notice the time PASSING by as you do that........
that is precisely WHY I want my OS to be as automated as possible, that being the reason why Windows 7 64bit is on top of my list, followed by Linux Ubuntu continuing with the poor Mac and everything else...........................................

sorry if my posts iritate your thoughts, but I just can't stand such a highly advertised OS having such little GUI relevance..............

Hm... Interesting. If you're on Digg, I'll just say RTFA; unfortunately, this is not Digg, because if you were on Digg the whole community wouldn't be able to stand your stupidifying remarks and would become a ghosttown.

The picture actually says "Arguing on the internet is like running in Special Olympics. Even if you've won, you're still retarded."

    PS. I'm presenting facts here.

Is this something that only I am experiencing, or is this a server mishap? I did not unsubscribe from anything, and you know, this did not only occur with this thread alone, I have started problem threads, and, even though people posted responses to my problems, I was not able to receive them, and I noticed the responses only when I went to check on the thread randomly. Am I the only one to whoom this is happening?
Sorry for not responding, I usually care for my rep, even if or though it has a small - in front. At least I got more points, don't I ????
    )))))))))))))
You actually care for your rep? o.O .... I thought your trolling around here actually means otherwise... And I wasn't aware of you ever getting any rep for anything... I would be honestly suprised if you did.

XianLi is your "good friend"? I wouldn't have believed it. Too bad he's now gone and we cannot ascertain if that's true. (Oh, and thanks for insulting our former mod. /sarcasm.)

XianLi never mentioned making two parts to the same forum. This forum is meant for hobbyists only. And he left because of rules about posting... You really should understand what's happening before commenting. But if Hackint0sh did split into the two parts I'm sure you'll end up in the latter half.

And why exactly would you want 20 different Ubuntu CDs with minor changes? You only have a few computers, and why just record the changes?

Windows 7 is one of the worst OSes out there by far. A "Mac wannabe" while retaining Vista's flaws (read:UAC), Windows 7 should be the free upgrade that all the Vista customers deserve after suffering 5 years. And we'll see how Windows 7 performs next to Snow Leopard in due time.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not in Mac............
Please look up Fitt's Law and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines before you actually BS about how bad that is...

Not that you'd understand why, but I just wanted to let you know.
As for the fail spewing or whatever, you do seem very childish. Much like cpich. do you know him? he's an altered ego type of person. I hope you don't end up like him
With the latest iMac I got a rich, widescreen Mac with a lot of on-screen real estate. As you might not know, when you use any of the latest large widescreen monitors (i.e. 20" or higher) you have to have your eye-level at least 3/4 of the way up. If your neck hurts now it's YOUR problem. Please. Stop "spewing". Study Apple's (or any other hardware manufacturers') Ergonomics manuals before saying anything about "straining your neck".

And by the way what's that with playing piano? I played piano since I'm 3 and I'm professionally qualified (DipABRSM)... And never, ever got any ergonomic problems other than wider hands (and that's usually a plus)...

Riding a bike for four miles isn't anything too worth bragging about. Try jogging 2 miles under 20 minutes, then see how that feels. Oh, and I didn't say anything before this post about you being unfit physically. I'm just saying that you're unfit mentally and intellectually to master "the art of computing".

Quote of Sesberg's post here...:"system files, filesystem (at a basic level, same thing)"...

Yes, I'm not sure what you're writing either...

yeah, try logging in as root with only a usb mouse................

First, just go on any technical blog. Windows are the culprit of your "anti-user" complaint.
Second, root users are superusers that are only used by the admins. They're by default not on so that idiots like you won't be able to screw up your computer (even though apparently you did).
Third, I don't know what is this "logon mode". You'll have to speak in a language other than idiotspeak so that I can understand.
Fourth, about GUI, Macs are actually better known in functionality. Even Microsoft is caught copying them.
Fifth, no, I don't understand what Windows can do that a Mac can't (using GUI or otherwise). And Windows users heavily rely on command line too, unless you're too naïve to face the truth.

by the way, WHY ON EARTH should a apps menu bar (like firefox mozzila 3.0.6, the one with file, edit, view, history, bookmarks) remain at the top of a window??????

Solution: read ergonomics manuals, adjust how you sit in relation to the monitor, or just get a smaller one. I won't go into the Windows vs. Mac things. Apparently you won't listen to reason. (If you did you would have read my previous posts)

As I said, Disk Utility can diagnose your boot drive. I'm not sure what problem you're having, but it sure has nothing to do with Mac OS X. If Disk Utility doesn't work then fsck yourself.
"do you know just HOW this cd was requested by the worldwide mac community?" I was never aware, in my 5 years of using Mac OS X, that this CD is as thoroughly requested as Windows XP CDs...

You're confusing the Dock with the menu bar. Or at least that's what I understood of your post. GNOME by default has the menu bar at the top.
