So I'm gonna purchase a used Airport Extreme off of craigslist. Obviously I'm going to get the new square shaped one, my question is since the launch of the product has apple done any major upgrades to it internally that I should be aware of? Do you think its a good idea to get this item from craigslist?

All Airport extremes are not created equal even through they may be square.

The models for the square ones in order of manufacture are A1143, A1301 and A1354

The A1354 is the latest one with dual band and the final version of the N wifi standard.
The A1301 has the dual band but is based on a non final version of the N standard
The A1143 does not have dual band and is based on a non final version of the n standard.

Other than those few points they are pretty much the same.
