Default This is about Mac Mail

I just want to verify with the Mac Mail users who have their hotmail/windows live accounts Synced with Mail, have any of you had any problems like ALL of their mail getting deleted? Not form Mail but the actual windows account.. ??

Or if the fact that all my hotmail/windows live mail getting deleted could have any thing to do with the fact that its synced with mac Mail?

I'm sorry if it sounds ridiculous, but i don't know where the problem lies and i just wanna be sure. And if its got nothing to do with this then i might as well direct it somewhere productive..

    Thanks

    Default Yep

    Hey mate,
I don't know much about all this jazz but I am pretty sure this happened to me when I synced up my hotmail account - its just the way the emails get downloaded from the 'server' I believe. Something with hotmail must just rip all your emails from the hotmail server as opposed to keeping them all and sending a copy to each of the mail apps you have hooked up to hotmail (including hotmail). gmail is the same I think but it is easier (or more obvious) to chose how oyu want it to work, and I blieve by default it'll keep your mail in gmail and on your mail app.

Hope that helped you figure out where it's coming from a bit.

    Peace

No that's not correct, it depends on your settings!

Go into Mail, Preferences, Click on Accounts, Select the hotmail account you set-up in the panel on the left, Click the Advanced Tab and see what you have set for the "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message" setting.

I have several email accounts all configured in Mail.app, including hotmail, yahoo and my own email servers, it works great and the universal inbox saves having to switch to different accounts all the time to check on messages.
