Hello dear fellows,
after a month or so trying, researching on getting the phone of a friend back to life and nothing worked, there is currently hope : D
I had all those known problems like:
- freezing activation screens
- no imei etc.
- when erasing baseband it worked, but no EDGE, WIFI, BT
- ibooter showed a NAND error, which "should take a while" to repair
- ziphone and other tools showed those scrolling errors, that there is kind a missing files or firmware file could not be loaded.
- completely no older FW or tool helped me out of this.
AND NOW
used:
itunes 7.7
firmware 1.2
iphone (1st generation)
1. try:
was using DFU mode for restoring to Firmware 2.0 by holding down option and clicking on recovery and selecting the yesterday's firmware or that, what you could regular obatin now from itunes.
this lead to an error 1600 ...
2. try:
using the normal restore mode (not DFU) and it worked :)
BUT REAAAAAD THIS:
unless there is currently no UNLOCK/JAILBREAK/ACTIVATE tool available, I can't confirm that it really completely works.
The difference is, that the "need repair"-screen and those freezes have completly gone :) - just emergency calls are possible ( I didn't try ;D )
The phone seems just to wait for "correct" activation.
So let's hope, that there will be soon a solution for the last part.
And hopefully some other bricks will get back to life.
I give feedback, if it worked as soon as there is pwnage 1.2 (or 2.0) available to me :)
for those who can't wait have a look for a downgrade path from FW 2.0 to 1.1.4 in this forum.
cheers
BubbleBobble ;D
how about this problem:
- 4gb 1.0.2 otb, was pwned with 1.1.4 then upgraded to 2.0 by mistake (my brother.. a$shole)
- it DOES NOT go into DFU mode, its not that I don't know how to do it because I do, I have also tried ZiPhone (Mac and PC), iLiberty+ and the DFU.exe tool for pc, and nothing, it goes back to recovery mode and nothing detects it, except for itunes.
- When you try to take it to DFU mode using the power/home button solution, it just turns off, doesn't go into dfu mode.
Currently its on 2.0, I need to downgrade and can't do anything right now. I've been trying to fix it for a week, haven't found anything and nobody seems to find a solution. Anyone here?
Thanks
OK... Very desperate here ...
Bought a second generation iPhone with 1.1.2 in it. Used a sim unlock. Updated to 1.1.4 and used ZIphone to unlock. (BAD MOVE ... VERY BAD MOVE -- thought Zibri was still part of the dev team ... wouldn't have used it if I knew he wasn't).
Updated to 2.0 ... used WinPwn to create a custom firmware ... everything ok.
Updated to 2.2 used QuickPwn to unlock.
One day tried to sync with iTunes at work but because I was already synced with iTunes at home it didn't do it. I know it doesn't make much sense ... I've been puzzled with this for a while but what happened was that the home button stopped working, appstore apps would only start, run for 4-7 seconds and then crash, i could hear ppl on the phone but they couldn't hear me, basically it wasn't usable.
So then I decided to go on recovery mode, used winpwn with 2.02 firmware but when iTunes was recovering it I got a 1006 error and now all it shows is the iTunes connect logo.
The problem is that it does not get recognized from iTunes at all. Tried with different versions. Is there any other way to go in DFU mode ?
So I guess no help can be given for this ...
