boy I hate to ask too but don't have access to another iphone or ipod touch to do this.

you guys seem to have the only legitimate solution so far.

anyone willing to send me a set of unique certificates?

    thanks!

disregard this post - I used pushfix 2.0 (had to pay for it) but it worked fine...

I've read this thread with interest and it let me think that my problem miught come from this...

I have bought my new iphone in france 3 weeks ago . I have used the French official sim card, then from france jailbreak with blackra1n and desimlock with sn0w. The Iphone was still working great (youtube and the compass).

then i moved to indonesia for few months, i change the sim card and put an indonesian one. everything is fine (except the reboot thing).

But then i got a troubvle with itunes asking me a valid sim card, which was not the case before but it just happen like that.

So i have restor the phone but with the indonesian sim card cause i do not have the old one.

I jailbrwak it straight, then desimlock. The phone work like a charm... but no more youtube or the GPS neighter the compass (he does not give me the true north or my position !) is it because i did not activate some certificates with the official sim cards before ?

I do not have this original sim cards (it's in France). Is it because of that ? What can i do ?

    Thanks.

this solution worked for me - PUSH NOW WORKING!

Pushfix.info - apparently they can generate unique certificates that work and install them in your phone via cydia

the bad part is you have to pay - $6USD where the solution posted here, borrowing a clean phone to generate the certificates - is free

but since I don't have access to a clean phone to borrow (and possibly mess up) I tried this and it worked fine!

push now working on my 2G hacktivated/jailbroken/unlocked running 3.0.1

Get a custom ipsw made with pwnage tool and shift-click restore that in iTunes. That should fix everything *besides* push notifications. You need legit unique certificates for push.

ok do you need 2 iphones or can you just use 1 and an official carrier sim

ie: restore the one i use with ultrasn0w, activate it with an ATT sim, get the certs off of it, restore it with a custom ipsw with hackivation, then inject the certs

to possibly answer my own question, YES it looks like one can just use a single iphone to do this, its just easier to use 2

also, we can generate multiple batches of certs according to steps 11-15?

You can do it all with one phone.. As long as you can legitimately activate that phone. See: Using an iPhone without a wireless service plan

Specifically if it is a 2G iPhone then you need to have the sim card that was used to originally activate it with a legitimate plan (even if that card/plan is no longer active)

It is generally easier to use 2 phones, yes

Yes you can generate multiple certs and share them, or store them away for a rainy day.

Thanks for your answer. Once I would have done this restore in itunes, how would i be able to desimlock my sim card ? I have downloaded yesterday a clean one but not sure how to do after that. Thanks.
