i do remember reading somwhere that someone used ibrickr after updating to 1.1.2 because they had the same problem, as long as it gets you out of recovery mode you should be able to jailbreak.

I have a jailbroken and activated uk O2 1.1.2 iphone. If i want to restore it to the out of box condition, could i simply restore using itunes? after restoring it to oob condition, could i also follow the guide to reactivate the iphone and jailbreak it again? is there a limit on how many times i could repeat the procedure?

I have also thrown away the original o2 sim that came with the iphone ( ) does that affect the restore and reactivation process?

I didn't have my pwd to hand so went to go find it, when I got back the phone was back to the 'slide for emergency' screen. Now when I touch the slide, the number keypad appears but then the light fades immediately, and the keypad is not active. Touching the keys doesn't do anything.

What should I do

yes, but make sure you have a copy of 1.1.2 firmware as itunes will try and install 1.1.3

I have a IPhone that appears to have been an import from the US, I didnt know this when I bought it! I live in the UK.
I can make & receive calls fine, but I cant use the internet. I dont have wifi, so Im no too concerned about wifi settings, but I really need to use Edge, or the phone is useless to me,
Can you give me any advice on how to set my phone up with Uk Edge Settings, the phone has been unlocked & is not with o2,
Can you tell me how to configure the phone to use edge in the uk please

OK, I'm there, up and running.

Now that 1.1.3 is released, you can't update the software to 1.1.2 as it says in the tutorial. Instead, download 1.1.2 from here.

(If you use Safari to download, it will probably unzip it automatically, which you don't want. Easiest to download using FireFox.)

Then, to update to 1.1.2, hold down the Apple (Command, or Clover) key, AND the option (or Alt) key, while you click on the Update button in iTunes.

Other than this, I didn't need to do anything other than what it says in Trunkz tutorial. Thanks Trunkz!

Now I've followed the instructions carefully and got the iPhone working, do I still need to keep ssh installed? What does it do?

can we get the original post updated please? most of the recent posts have been since 1.1.3 is available. this would end if the following in the OP were made current:

Step 3 - Update to 1.1.2:

1) Load up iTunes. Make sure your iPhone is docked / connected to your Mac.
2) iTunes should now say that there's an update available for your iPhone (1.1.2),
and you can update. Press the update button! (DONT PRESS THE RESTORE
BUTTON!!)
