rm -f /var/root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist

please note, you do this in terminal on a mac or (i think) command prompt on the pc
if your on a mac, i can walk you through, or give more guidance, those instructions arent that clear

I've read your suggestion a few times in the searches I've been doing but, don't understand how to.
I am on windows and have managed to SSH into my Iphone using WinSCP, but don't know how to type in the commands (it only has a address bar. I did however manage to follow the file path from:
Var for the 1st
system for the 2nd (couldn't find o2_uk Plist, but did find unknow carrier Plist, the guy that jailbroke my phone said he deleted it and added unknown carrier to get edge working???)and;
var for the 3rd

Help please, if possible.

ok, you need PuTTY from http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/.../x86/putty.exe
run it, and in the host name, type the ip address. make sure SSH is selected
press open
a new window will open, type in 'root' and press enter
then type in the password (default 'alpine')
then type in the instructions...

Just successfully unlocked and jailbroke 2 UK iPhones....second one took literally 15 minutes...thanks a lot for your help guys.

search for youtube fix or search for how to change edge settings if nothing works without wifi...

Unfortunately I have only gotten this far;

3) Launch up iTunes. It'll say your iPhone is in restore mode. Press & hold the apple
key + alt key, then click on the restore button. A window will popup, now locate
the downloaded 1.1.1 ipsw file, and press OK.

When I go to select the file it opens up the contents which are;

022-3602-17.dmg
022-3629-9.dmg
022-3630-9.dmg
Firmware (which is a folder)
kernelca...18900xrb
Restore.plist

I don't know which to select, I was tempted by restore but don't fancy an iBrick!! I would really appreciate some help. I'm sure I'm just being stupid.... I'm so desperate to get it going! Pls help.

One more thing aswell. Does it make a difference what sim is in it whilst i do the unlocking? I have got my T-Mob in. Cheers
