Matt
This guide is to jailbreak & bypass the activation for OTB / Upgraded 1.1.2 iPhones. Its not for unlocking procedures.

I have a wk 47 phone and am trying to follow the guide but am stuck on step 6.
The phone was downgraded and is stuck in restore mode with the picture of cable and itunes on the phone screen. I can't get it to kick back out to normal mode.
I have installed independence 1.3b2 and run the mobile tool to import the older itunes files (with success).
The problem is that independence doesn't do anything. No window has ever come up, it just bounces in the dock and then sits there after. I have tried with itunes open and without itunes open. I have made sure the itunes helper is not running.
What is independence supposed to look like? is there a menu? an application window?
Running on leopard 10.5.1 and itunes 7.5 if that matters
Any help appreciated!!

Hi Trunks,
Sorry m i being a retard but i thought that because im on O2 i wouldn't need to unlock the phone just allow another O2 sim to be used in it (UK).

its a 4GB iphone, US only
still therefore needs unlocking
and what about if I'll try to unlock it, and something will go wrong, and I won't be able to finish this process for some reason or if I will unlock it, and then change my mind, can I restore everything to default and return this phone to the shop, during 14 days(I can say, that I couldn't pass the credit check..?...So, I just want to know, can they found out that I tried to unlock the phone and won't make a refund?...
there are ways of telling
best way around it is to make it so the phone wont boot
there are a few ways, although the best ive seen is to get the usb cable and cut the wire
find the red and black and connect them to a battery or other power source (NOT THE MAINS) so that the internal battery is fried...

I only had 3 issues when sorting my phone out....
1) getting into jailbreakme.com to click on appsnap via the new contact you create ( not sure if was issue with jailbreak site or apple purpusely blocking in some way as I could go to other websites easy enough.... in end just worked....
2) downloading update for 1.1.2 from itunes... first time had error near end of update (resulting in me repeating all steps to try again which worked)
3) the java issue with the jailbreak 1.1.2 (windows.bat) file not executing until I did java download.
Thanks
Hi All,
I'm still trying to get past step 15.... anyone can advise please!!
Thanks!

Hi,
What a fantastic thread! Please can you confirm three things for me:
- Using the first post method an OOTB 1.1.2 UK iphone on an 02 simplicity (i.e. monthly but non-iphone-specific) tariff will work on EDGE?
- Infact the only difference would be a lack of Visual Voicemail?
- the phone could be restored to virgin state and activated on the standard iphone tariff at some point in the future?
I ask because the updated FAQ in the first post added the EDGE confusion for me, with the lines about restoring EDGE functionality to a jailbroken iphone-tariff'ed device.
thanks so much

Thanks pgilder. Tried to reinstall before but that didn't work. Then after you suggested, i removed everything again, logged out and added independence and did the old itunes files import again. Then independence worked.
After that it was pretty smooth sailing.
Now jailbreaked and activated on USA OTB wk 47 phone. Now holding tight for the 4.6 bootloader to be fixed so I can get rid of my blackberry!
Thanks for the guide and help everyone!!!!

Can someone send me some info on checking what bootloader my phone is running??????????
Is there anyway to unlock the iphone then sorry getting bit confused here?
4gb version im pretty sure its a UK version perhaps presales.
Many thanks all.
