o2contract SIM won't work after doing everything in the tutorial correctly (except the ./osx part in terminal, i didn't have to do that since it would give me the same error as above, i just double clicked on the jar file and it jailbroke just fine).
Still not sure why. If I put in for example an Orange SIM it says incorrect SIM, but for the o2 sim cards it just says No Service or shows no bars...
Even though putting the O2 sim card in another phone shows all 5 bars.

This guide is great! It worked fine for me!
I used a BT Genie sim (about 6 years old) and PAG o2 Sim, and lastly a Contract o2 Sim all which are active.
My phone was a UK iPhone 1.1.2 purchased on the 15th of Nov, if that helps....
Thanks!

how to I cd to the jailbreak folder in terminal, this is the bit I'm stuck on...
im terminal, type "cd /Users/*YOUR USERNAME*/Downloads" (without quotes), or wherever the file is stored...
Ok at the risk of asking a stupid question ....If you follow this process to activate the iPhone is it then prepared and ready for the anySIM update when it's released?
when and if it is, yes, it should be

you sure you replaced the lockdownd with the right file? this has to be the correct one, not just any old lockdownd will do
if the one linked wont work, try http://**********.com/files/56121352/lockdownd.rar
if that link has a load of **** in it, replace it with "rapid share", without the space. this forum seems to change it...

right so how much do you have to change for this to work on windows xp??

pgilder: That worked fantastically, thank you for the link!
I think it had something to do with permissions. The file you linked had 644, while others reccommended 555 or 755.
I think if one had to do with via XP, they may run in to Error 1604 whereby iTunes fails to downgrade to 1.1.1 and stays on 1.1.2; I encountered this a few times and just did it in OSX to fully restore to default 1.1.2 and downgrade/upgrade.
to knock the phone out of DFI mode: iDemocracy would be replaced by iBrickr, that worked for me when I was testing it on XP.
From then on it's simple, just follow the same guide to jailbreak over wifi, install oktoprep and the tools neded for SSH before updating back to 1.1.2
Afterwards get the 1.1.2 jailbreak from the dev team (the jar and the windows.bat one); making sure you have JAVA installed; it should jailbreak the updated-back-to 1.1.2 so that there's no more activation; from then on you copy the new lockdownd files using putty, or try the new independence (since it allows you to copy files without typing in all the commands)...

hello everyone,
got my phone up and running, thanxx a million for this great tutorial.
one thing, i had problems @ the downgrade process coz i had a "selfmade" pin on my sim.
so, if you plan to jailbreak a uk / german phone, remove the sim-pin before (!!) you downgrade coz you cant type the pin after downgrading to 1.1.1 and the phone want let you in !!!
doing this, everything runs like hell :-)
again, thanxx a million

glad it worked
i had no idea about those permissions things, i ignored it. still seems to work
i only used that lockdownd because the one linked had a 134 minute download queue!!!

I've downloaded about 20 times from rapid share today, all were under a minute. Hmm...

Some details for windows users...
Step 1) part 2) - getting phone into restore mode
iphone on and in dock, itunes running
press and hold power off and home button
ignore slide to power off
white apple appears
let go power button , keep home button down
when connector picture appears let go home button
Step 1) part3) can't remember what the dialog said, think I pressed restore but it disappeared and I was left with the main itunes restore screen. On the itunes restore screen I click the restore button whilst pressing the shift key to get the choose restore file dialog.
Step 1) part 6) I used iBricker.exe to get me out of restore mode. ( yes the website does have a warning about "1.1.1 ruins everything" however the get out of restore feature works and that's all I used it for)
Step 2) part 2) "dial *#307#" could be written as "type *#307# and press call"
Step 2) part 4) "Press accept call, then press hold, then press deny." could be written as "press answer , then hold, then decline"
Step 4) part 4) "load up terminal" = "open windows command prompt"
Step 4) part 4) "type ./osx" = "run windows.bat file which you find in that directory"
Step 7 parts 1) and 2) I used WinSCP
note : the ip address can be found under iphone settings -> wifi -> and click the little blue arrow next to your active network connection.
Step 7 part 6) I used WinSCP to check the permissions on the existing lockdownd file ( select it, right click then properties ), I then renamed the old file, copied the new one to the phone ( drag and drop ) then set the permissions the same as the old one.

Hey can anyone help me out with step 6 please? I've got my phone into the restore mode with 1.1.1 firmware, downloaded Independence (v1.3 and used workaround for iTunes 7.5) but I'm still getting the error message: connection failed cannot connect to iPhone.
I've also created an opt file in terminal and placed the libreadline file there but still no joy. Is there another programme capable of kicking the iPhone out of restore mode on the mac?
I'm getting really frustrated with it, I've had the damn thing a week and I want to be able to at least use part of it until we get anySIM for 1.1.2 iPhones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
