Suddenly I got it working (don't know why), so my OTB 1.1.2/4.6 is now down to 1.1.1 and jailbreaken. I can use everything except the phone functions and will have to wait for a unlock software to be developed.

i'm yet to purchase but am thinking of purchasing and using as an ipod/touch until unlock comes so i can use on tmobile: question:

when you buy a new iphone, does it come with the at&t sim card even if you don't purchase an at&t phone plan (i ask b/c at the beginning of the one step it says MAKE SURE to insert att sim now)? pls verify - thx

That appears to be the case. I got mine from the US and executed the procedure given by the Threadstarter, and everything was fine. So obviously an ATT SIM card was included.

Yes all the phones purchased in the USA come with the AT&T sim
for those who want to Unlock their SIM the only solution for now remains TURBOSIM from Bladox.com, the turbosim is a sim card with a little electronic chip on it, you program the chip so that it makes the phone believe that there's a AT&T sim card in it and the phone will let you do phone calls with your own sim

The only thing is that you need to cut a small corner from your sim card so that you insert the Turbosim along with your own SIM card in your iphone

I think BLadox stopped selling TurboSim for now cause theyr received alooooooot of purchases in the past week, i have ordered mine and i will receive it in a couple of days, once i do i will post a detailed video on how to do this for newbies again Like me

I have already activated my iphone w/ att. So what do I need to change in the instructions to jailbreak my phone? I have done a search but still cannot get a firm grasp if the directions change for an already activated ATT phone.

Do I just need to download the 1.1.1 onto my macbook and start a restore?
Can I just put the jailbreakme url into my current configuration?
Will a subsequent restore bring it to 1.1.2 current status?

It is my only phone since I am backordered on a tmobile battery for 4 months now and do not want to lose comms.

Do I gather that this tutorial is designed only for those who wish to downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak, and stick with 1.1.1? What does that actually achieve?

Isn't it a logical progression to then upgrade to 1.1.2 and jailbreak that, as in the following tutorial?
