Hi

I'm looking for some help with my Lion 10.7.4 installation on a VMWare Player 5 virtual machine, with a Dell Vostro 3550 as the host.
When I first tried audio on the VM, the sound crackled horribly. Reading forums, I deleted AppleHDA.kext and replaced with VoodooHDA version 2.7.2, using MultiBeast. Now, my sound doesn't crackle, but jerks. My sound is on '2ch-16bit Integer' at a bitrate of 44100Hz in Audio MIDI setup. Also, my right hand speaker doesn't seem to work at all now. My 'Use SSE2' in the VoodooHDA menu is turned on.

Any suggestions?

I downloaded the 'VoodooLoader', ran the installer, downloaded VoodooHDA 2.7.2, renamed it to 'VoodooHDA.kext', downloaded and ran 'VoodooPatcher', that finished and said 'All Done - Launch VoodooLauncher in your Applications folder to test changes', so I did, and got

Requesting load of /Applications/VoodooLoader.app/Contents/Resources/VoodooHDA.kext.
/Applications/VoodooLoader.app/Contents/Resources/VoodooHDA.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) different version/uuid already loaded; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8).

from VoodooLoader. I read this, deleted VoodooHDA.kext from /System/Library/Extensions, rebooted, then ran everything again - and the same error happens.


Sorry if I'm being a n00b... what am I doing wrong?

EDIT - Sorry - it loads fine third time round, but this time the crackling is even worse! Strange...

No sound at all now. I download the new one, delete VoodooHDA.kext from /System/Library/Extensions, run VoodooPatcher and drag the new VoodooHDA.kext from my Downloads to the program, 'All Done' again, I go to VoodooLoader, that successfully injects the kext...
I go to my audio file, play with the sound turned up, and I don't get anything! Upon further inspection, opening a terminal window, CD'ing to /System/Library/Extensions, and ls'ing, there is no VoodooHDA.kext there!
