How to backup and restore everything exactly as it is?
Hey everyone. So I've been running Lion on my PC for about 7 months now and love it. It took me about a week of fiddling with it to get everything to work, and I finally succeeded and haven't looked back since.
I have a 2tb internal hard drive. The main 'Lion' partition is around 500GB, my 'Storage' partition is about 1TB and my 'Time Machine' partition is about 500GB.
I am on 10.7.2 right now without ANY issues, and this is my full-time production machine.
I recently tried enabling FileVault so I could enable full disk encryption, and it denied me, saying I needed a different file system. From what I understand, this is an issue that I'll have to fix from an OSX dvd and will have to re-format the partition Lion is currently on.
So, seen as this is my first ever Apple system and thus I am still kind of new at this, here is my question: How can I back EVERYTHING up so that once I re-format the partition I can simply reload everything from the other partition and boot back into the system as it is?
I am deathly afraid of something going bad here and locking me out of booting and thus work.
I do use Time Machine and give it half of a Terabyte to backup to, but I honestly don't know how useful that is for me in this situation.
Does anyone have any advice/ideas?
I'd love to hear it!
Thanks

I think this will work according to these guy´s here
Hackintosh + Carbon Copy Cloner = Hackintosh won’t boot | Things I Learned While Programming
Copy the partition with Carbon Copy Cloner.
Startup with Iboot CD
Run Multibeast.

Yep, using Carbon Copy Cloner makes backing up your Hackintosh pretty easy. It'll clone your entire Lion hard drive onto a separate hard disk partition. You can make the partition bootable by installing Chameleon/Chimera on it.
