I'm experiencing the exact same problem! I've got an MSI NX8600GT 512 MB. Garbled screen using any method to enable the card. It seems the videocard justs outputs whatever is left in its memory. Because I get a garbled version of my Ubuntu desktop when I boot with an enabler. Anyone got any ideas?

I am having the same problem as well. I built two systems, both using EVGA 8800GTS 640mb cards. The only difference between systems is one uses an Asus P5L-MX and the other a Gigabyte ga-965g-ds3.

The Gigabyte system runs perfectly, the Asus system has the garbled screen. I plan to swap video cards and see if the problem is resolved on the Asus. If so, the problem is likely in the video card bios as both cards are seemingly identical. If not the problem is in the motherboard or chipset. If it seems to be a video card bios problem, I will then dump the bios from the good card and flash it to the problem one.

I will post my findings later today unless someone finds a solution first.

Ok, well I swapped cards and the Asus system still gets the garbled screen and the Gigabyte works great, so it isn't the card itself but something to do with the motherboard as literally everything else down to the case is identical on both systems. Both systems worked perfectly in Snow Leopard and Windows 7.

The only known differences between boards are the the Asus uses the Intel 945 and has two memory slots, the Gigabyte uses the intel 965 and has four memory slots. Both systems have 4gb, the Asus only uses 3456mb due to only being able to address 4gb total and having a 640mb video card.

I hope someone can come up with a solution to this.

Hmm, so it's a problem with the motherboards chipset.. Good work finding that out! Now to fix the problem.. Could this be fixed with a DSDT patch?

Here is my checklist of things to try when I get home today. Maybe someone wants to try before then...wink, wink

Replacing IOPCIFamily.kext and possibly related AppleACPIPlatform.kext with ones from Snow Leopard.

DSDT patch specific to my motherboard

It's the way the motherboard interfaces the card, not the card itself. Everybody seems to have already tried all the card specific fixes so these will address the board instead. I don't have much experience messing with DSDT but I had found a specific mention to my particular board in a DSDT auto patcher update.
