anyone know if this is how the new independence should work... assume your iphone is already unlocked

So let me walk through the process then

    1) using itunes, restore the phone
    2) phone powers back on, says "ACTIVATE" on it.
    3) run independence
    4) run youtube fix
    5) run activate
    6) should be good to go....

    right?

hi. using the latest independece, you just activate the iphone, and youtube will work right away via wifi. since i already had my phone sw unlocked, and activated with a previouse version of independence, what i did was i restore my phone with itunes, activated it with the new independece, and that's it, youtube was working right away
my question is what will happen when i'm not in a wifi area, will youtube still connect through edge?

Nice one Worked a treat. After sim-unlocking it last night been playing with it all day. Read this thread and re-activated it, thought I'd fcuked it when it went back to jail and I had to connect to iTunes.......and then remembered I had the firmware on on my Macbook.
Anyhow, reactivated it (so easy) and YouTube works a treat

do we really have to restore?

can't i just click deactivate, and then activate for it to go thru the process?

I think the misconception is that when you "restore" the phone remains UNLOCKED so that you don't have to go through that pain in the ass unlocking again. The process, I believe, should take no more than 10-15 minutes...

Thanks for the heads up sachin1301.
I have a SW unlocked iPhone and since I didn't want to do a full restore via iTunes, all I did was use the newest version of iNdependence to Deactivate then Activate again my iPhone then perform a jailbreak. As far as I can tell, everything still works.

    Calls in/out = OK
    SMS in/out = OK
    WiFi and EDGE = OK
    YouTube = OK

I turned off WiFi and started up YouTube and it automatically searches/loads videos via EDGE.

well, atfirst i tried that, but coulnd't activate it again with the new independece, tht's why i restored. yes, the unlock reamins after restore, so it all took me no more than 5 minutes.
