I'm having the same problem. I replaced the files into the /private/var.... path and rebooted and still give me the "unable to connect to youtube" prompt.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advanced.

this is driving me crazy... a couple weeks ago i activated and got you tube to work on 4 phones.... i had to restore 2 of the phones and now i can't get you tube to work....
i am using independence to activate using the imei and iccd of the phones...
i have tried changing the files in /private/var/root/library/lockdown
I have tried changing the files in /var/root/library/lockdown
I have tried changing the files in both directories
I copy all three files (data_ark, device_public, and Device_private) as well as add the device certificate from data_ark to the pair_ records plist files as well as to the activation records plist files and nothing is working...
please help!!!
Btw.. i am on 1.0.2 (1c28)

if you use independence, then you need copy the device certificate into the activation record in the activation_records folder....
or use the lockdownd file and remove the activation record altogether.

probably the device certificate got deleted form the data_ark.plist... make sure it's there.
BTW, you DO need the .pem files. the device certificate is made from these files and is checked against them..
if that doesn't work, look inside the /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records/ folder and see if there's a file there..

in the file in the activation_records folder i had to place the device key from data_ark in 2 places...
under the Device_key tabs AND under the FairPlayKeyData tabs...
weird... never had to do that before

Here's how I finally got mine working after six hours, 32 attempts, and reading 46 posts:
-------------------------------------------------
You have an activation record in the folder var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records/
Copy the device certificate from your data_ark.plist to the activation record (#############.plist) in that folder and reboot the phone (if there are two activation records, copy it to the smaller one e.g. the one with the shorter file name). If you just replace the data_ark.plist, you will get a locked phone AT&T screen.
Copy the r-a-p-i-d-s-h-a-r-e private.pem and public.pem to the phone.
Reboot the phone.
Pokey.

FYI This method worked for me also.

Great I got it to work.
iTunes 7.4
I jailedbreaked using INdependence 1.1.1
connected to my phone using FUGU
---
Fugu process starts at #16
http://www.hacktheiphone.com/iphone_...lient_mac.html
remember the root password is "dottie"
---
I followed these steps;
1. Copy the whole Lockdown directory from /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown onto your Mac. You can use Transmit SFTP for this.
2. Copy the deleonju files (the ones that are linked above in this thread) into the Lockdown folder on your Mac
3. Open the new data_ark.plist file, and copy the entire <data> tag just after <key>-DeviceCertificate</key> onto the clipboard
4. Open EACH .plist file in the pair_records folder, and paste over the device certificate data tag
5. Open the .plist file in the activation_records folder, and paste the <data> tag over the (probably empty) <data> tag after <key>-DeviceCertificate</key> - note that this device certificate key is further down the file than in the pair_record .plist files
6. Copy the new Lockdown folder contents into /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
7. Reboot the iPhone and enjoy!
---
And now my iPhone runs youtube.
Thanks guys!

there is no need to patch the pair record. Only the activation record. I've done this myself in 10 different phones already. The pair record device certificate is different from the activation device certificate. :-)

I think what people have done wrong is you did not deactivate the phone before copying the files.
DEACIVATE, and then apply the patch (3 files), then reboot. You are good to go.
