My friend has an unlocked iphone but he had a old AT&T plan sim card which wouldn't work with any data plan. So he went in today and signed up for a 12 month contract extension to get a new updated sim card(they wouldn't give him a new sim card w/o a new contract). But now the AT&T rep told him that he won't be able to add the iPhone data plan w/o him activating an iPhone. So here's the problem...he has an activated and unlocked iphone right now. Is he able to activate it again through iTunes so that he's able to add the data plan? Or will Apple know that the iphone has already been activated and deny him? Any way around this so that he can get an unlimited data plan added to his voice plan?
