Worst New Years Eve ever!!!
Ok, so basically yesterday me and some friends were at a big party in a big house waiting for the new year to arrive. Lots of drinks and women. 12:00 am everybody is huggin, everything is good, everybody is wasted and having a good time. At about 1:00 am the dj says that the first guy or girl who dives in the pool wins a bottle of Jhonny Walker Black Label. So my best friend starts to take of everything from his pockets and gives them to me, to hold it for the time he is in the pool. I stay in a little corner carrying his stuff and then i see that one, two , three more people get thrown in the freaking pool. So it becomes a mess, theres plenty of people in the pool getting wet and I am in a corner. I was like 3 feet away from the pool, so I get away from the corner and little did i know, there was the owner of the house (who is also my friend) and he grabs my arm and throws me in the pool. When i got out of that pool, i realize that my friend's stuff got in the pool, and with that, everything that was in my pockets. I had one pack of cigarettes, my car keys , my house keys, my wallet and my IPHONE!!!!!
I took my iphone out it was wet like hell, it was on and try to slide to unlock, but didnt work. Then it powered off by itself and never turned back on. Tried to power it on a couple of times with no success.
Then they tell to me leave my iphone in a warm place where theres no movement, so i say ok lets put it in the car, so we go outside and tried the alarm. The alarm of course dindt worked!! so i couldn open my car. My friends had to help to me to try to cancel the alarm and get my car up and running.
The thing is my iphone is dead. I havent tried to power it on, cause im waiting for it to dry for a couple more days. It is currently sitting in a plate full of uncooked rice. Am i doing the right thing??? What else could i do? Should i kill the house owner (my friend), bury him next to the poool and get the money from him?? Please help!!!!!!

u could set a hair dryer about 6 or 7 inches away to blow warm air on low setting for several hours. .... the uncooked rice is good too

I would go out and buy lots of new shoes / trainers. Discard the new shoes and trainers. (maybe in your friends pool??) take the little silica bags that you get in shoe boxes., chuck em all in one shoe box with your wet phone. Chuck the whole lot on your airing cupboard or somewhere else warm for a week. Dont turn the phone on cause it is the power running through it which kills it.
Tip: whenever you buy new shoes / trainers - keep the little silica bags for moments like this!!

Thanks for the tips guys! Is the hairdryer method legit?? I read that it may in fact be the worst thing to do to your iphone... Has anyone done that and had positive results??

I'd be more tempted to split the phone (2 small screws on the bottom), then just leave it somewhere warm for a day or 2. I dropped a Nokia down the toilet once (texting on the job), took it apart and let it dry out, came back to life eventually.

I gave that advice cuz i used it with my previous 2g iPhone... the distance between the hairdryer and the iphone is critical .... so keep it in the 6 or 7 inches range.... and be sure to use low setting on the hairdryer..... let me find the link to the tip and ill post it here...

So, after 3 days of sitting in rice and 2 silica gel packs(thats all i found), I tried to turn it on. The phone is still dead. No response at all. Im going to start a treatment with a fan (cool air) and then with a hairdryer but just a little. I also read that a i can put the iphone 6 inches away from a bulb for several hours.
Does my Iphone still has a chance??? I need some encouragement, cause i am losing it.

you should give it at least 2 more days. Did you open it? You could do that to check if it is still wet inside (lol) which could course shorts.
offtopic: make your friend buy an iphone or two and test how far an iphone can fly
