i honestly dont know but have a similar problem ..

i have asked many times in the forum but even experienced members INSIST on not answering that easy ,simple ,basic question

my wi fi or edge connection is ok , but like yours ,when the phone goes dark (standby) , i cannot keep connection alive

and also , if the structure of the webpage (for ex. beejive web based msn client) needs to stay alive to function properly , i cannot manage to do it even if i swap apps ,or go to home screen ...

to summerize , if phone goes to standby , or home screen (any other place than beejive page) , my buddies cannot see my online status or send messages

but again , NO ONE helps in the forum ..

hope they will help you ..

i too had that problem. a solution i found was manually typing in a DNS number (given to me by roomate, not sure how he got it) in Settings>Wi-Fi. click the arrow next to you network and type it in. mine works like a champ now. ill try to find out how to get that number...hope this helps

    i think (not sure)

the problem is not network side , since when i first bought the phone , i didnt face this kind of an issue

i will try the dns but the phone itself cuts the network activity

but maybe we're talking about that for nothing , because it's just normal ,i dont know exactly

so i change the question , is it possible to remain connected (and actively receiving other buddies msn messages) in a web based msn client , even we return to spring board and/or go into the dark standby screen ?

I sorted mine last night by uninstallinh both boss services and another services app (basically the apps that let you turn things on and off) I don't know if this was a coincidence of not but my wifi is 100% back to normal thankfully. I will re install one of the services apps and see if it is still ok.

i also dont have connection problems

but i just wanna learn (but no one cares) , if it is normal to loose the turning cycle when we return to spring board or standby

if it's normal ,i'm talking for nothing

but if it's possible to keep it alive for receiving messages while in springboard, or while changing songs , or standby etc.. , i just want to learn how ?

    that's my only point

wifi automatically shuts off on it's own, everyone's iphone does this, it's to save power.

the is an app on installer that leaves the wifi on while in sleep mode...
