Default [WiFi] Connected but get Self Assigned IP (169.x.x.x)

Hi, this is the problem i have with my wifi.

I connect to any network, dhcp is all set up and working fine on the other network hardware, however my iphone can NEVER seem to get the connection detail via DHCP.

I mean it comes up with a 169... ip address and subnet mask 255.255.0.0, and no dns or router addresses. This happens on EVERY connection i try and it is really annoying, especially when using networks away from home.

Because at home i select the static tab on my iphone and enter the details manually and it then works fine. But away from home i cannot do this as i dont know the details so i really need to get the dhcp issue working. I know the hardware (routers etc. away from home has dhcp set up and working fine as i can connect to it fine with other wifi products just my iphone wont get the detail via dhcp.

I have tried everything, reneweing the lease, entering static public dns... Any suggestions please?

    Thanks,
    james

Your not the only one i had this problem up until recently! Have you tried connecting to other networks? I could with others, it was only my home network i was having trouble with same as you described above.

All i did was change the ssid on my router and the wpa key, tried again and bingo. Had no problems since.

    Also being discussed here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37284

well i really dunno what i did differently, cause other people are saying it makes no difference too.

Here's a list of things i tried that eventually ended up fixing mine.

    1. change the bootloader from 3.9FB to 4.6 neutered using boot neuter

    2. changed baseband to 04.02.03_G but lost the phone function so restored back to 1.1.4 with 04.04.05_G

3.Forget the network in wireless on iphone then clear network settings and reboot

    4. used the static i.p. setting which worked but dropped every now and again

    5. Change ssid and wpa-key on router was the final try and something made it work

Tried all of that, but thanks anyway. I do have the wifi connecting now and getting details via dhcp but then it disconnects after 3 seconds or so.
