Wi-Fi Internet Problems
we have a wireless 3com internet router (3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Access Point) set to channel 10 my iPhone 1.0.2 logs on to the network and automatically gets the IP, Subnet Mask, Router and DNS numbers (HTTP Proxy set to off) and has a signal but when in try to use safari or my mail it tells me "safari cant open the page because it cant find the server" although on my laptop i can connect and browser the web on that network
PS: i have tried the Iphone on other wireless networks and i was surfing the net with out a single problem.
any idea of what the problem could be?
Thx

Are you using MAC access lists?
You can try to click on "forget network" in the wifi settings of the network, then re-select it.

Did you enable 'Mac address filtering' on your router once andforgot about it ? Check the router (wireless) security setting and make sure that is disabled or add your iphone's mac address if its enabled.

Ok I added my MAC address to the DHCP list but still no luck then I disabled the DHCP and it still didn't work
and i also tried the "forget network" advice and nothing changed

hmmm...go to your router config. and see if the iPhone is there in the list of "connected devices" and what IP is assigned to it.

yes my Iphone MAC address shows in the client list and in the DHCP Client list and in the log :
41 min(s) 01 sec(s) after system power on : Wireless MAC address 00:1C:B3:26:4B:A8 has connected with the device
41 min(s) 01 sec(s) after system power on : Wireless MAC address 00:1C:B3:26:4B:A8 has obtained IP address 192.168.1.2
same IP is listed in all

Try to ping the phone from another machine. Even better would be sshing into the phone and pinging google for example.

Try using OpenDNS. Put the DNS server for the connection as 208.67.222.222 and then try connecting. I had the same problem....other devices could access websites but the iphone couldn't. Using openDNS solved the problem.
