Default Why are some plists viewable and some look corrupted?

When I double click some plists in WinSCP, I can readily see them. However, some plists aren't viewable. In fact, they're look like jibberish or seem corrupted. I also see that when I transfer some PNG files to my PC, they, too, cannot be viewed on my PC.

This never happened when I was using 1.0.2, but now that I've upgraded to 1.1.1, this all seems a bit strange.

For instance, if I navigate to /System/Library/CoreService/Springboard.app/ and d-click on m68ap.plist, I can see it just fine. However, n45ap.plist seems corrupted with odd characters.

Does anyone have an educated guess?

I have no troubles in Mac.
    Used iFuntastic File Browser.

Try using iPhone Browser, it is based on .NET and it works right.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a link to this iPhone Browser? Can't seem to find it even with Google.

I just fired up iBrickr to download to my PC the above 2 files and several others, and I see the same strangeness. Could this have something to do with the fact that 1.1.1 is encrypted somehow?

It's not a guess, but results from education

There are 2 types o plist: XML and binary. iPhone can read either, so it's quite common to get a binary plist, convert to XM, modify and save it back in XML format.

To convert, there is a Mac utility called plutil or you can use a Web based version of the program:

    Have fun!
