All,
I know it's my first post on here, but as a recent iPhone buyer I thought I'd give my thoughts.
Really, IPSF can pretty much do what they want, based on the law of supply and demand (the 1st rule of economics)
If there were lots of suppliers in there field, they would have to provide good customer service to compete or differentiate themselves. But since they are the only potential viable option, they can pretty much do what they want and people will still part with cash for a poor (or maybe even non existent) service. This is what always happens when a supplier offers a new and radical product.
I realise the difference is that they've never delivered anything, but the promise of what may be delivered is enough to generate massive demand. So buy into it or don't, part with cash or don't, but don't be surprised at them exploiting their real or perceived edge in the market.
People pump millions of dollars into the possibility of a new wonder drug from a pharm company, which may or may not materialise. Chucking $36 into this isn't too different.
As an observation, people on here seem very hostile to people willing to 'chance their arm' - I say if you want to speculate your $36, the choice is yours and fair play to you.

Hey guys, dont belive I'm a scammer.. I'm not!! I promise!!
Sounds like a real deal to me!! If you are not a scammer, why on earth would you refer to rumors of being one?
I'm a Nigerian girl, who wants to marry you, just send me 10.000$ and I'll be with you in less than a week! I'm not joking!! I PROMISE!!!

They updated:
"Following on from our recent newsletter to interested retailers, we would like to apologise for the delay in responding to the thousands of mails we have received.
We are working on clearing the backlog as soon as possible. We are experiencing a number of technical issues related to our business side of things and hope to have these resolved as soon as possible. We realize that there are more and more skeptics out there who even go so far as to label us as scammers but we are determined to provide quality service and products for our resellers and the end consumer. As a policy, we will stick to that mandate and prioritise our service above all else."

Couldn't have put it better myself. I'd far rather risk $36 than frying my iPhone by attempting the hardware gUnlock.

I have said all along - these guys have proprietary info which has enabled them to develop their unlocking solution - that's why they can take their time and be confident that no-one else will come alomng with an alternative solution.

So you think both CNN and Engadget are lying about all this? Come on, if you can't prove things, don't jump to conclusions!!!!

What I donīt get, why everybody is so pissed at IPSF and calling them scammers. May be they are, you donīt know. But then donīt wait, do a HW unlock or TSIM, and just give a shit.
They never promised sth to you personally. It is your own choice to wait and believing that they may have a solution.
For myself, also also want it to be true and also Iīm annoyed that it is not moving forward. But it is my choice to wait for a SW and to put my hopes into IPSF.
Just calm down and wait what is going to happen. Perhaps we are lucky and tomorrow we have a SW solution when not, so that is the way it will be.

You're absolutely right, there is no software solution so far.
However people are perfectly entitled to put their money down on the belief there will be in the short term. As I said, this happens in many industries, and people don't find it too Hilarius (sic). Why not just let people put their money behind the belief this will be delivered or not - everyone can make up their own opinion based on the evidence presented, and don't need (or deserve) to be berated by others with opinions no more valid than their own.
You pay your money, you take your choice. I'm sure there are plenty of people making financial decisions day to day which cost them a lot more than $36 - but again we generally let people make their own minds up about such things and are happy to let them live with the consequences.
