Where & how do I start the fun?

OK. So I'm a total newb and just realized the potential of the iPhone while browsing thru this site. I knew these things would be possible, I just wish I had researched it sooner.

I apologize if this type of question has been asked before, but where do I start?

My iPhone details:

Firmware: 1.1.2 (3B48b)
S/N: 7S740RX....
Modem FW: 04.02.13_G

Or if a thread already exists that others have found useful, please advise.

Oh, and I guess I should also mention that I'm interested in jailbreaking, as I already gave in to AT&T/Apple before I knew I could fight the power. :p

One thing I don't fully understand is about the Baseloader. I don't remember what my firmware was OTB, as I've updated on iTunes to 1.1.2 - is there a way to figure it out?
