Also, a close look at the state of 1.1.1 show that it's rather a "work in progress" rather than a "tested" firmware. Sounds like Apple released 1.1.1 as a interim firmware in a "futile" attemp to stop the unlock frenzy.
There are serveral components that are needed for the European networks that are still hard coded in 1.1.1, while others can be configured. So it points for a new firmware soon.
But, I do not think Apple will have time to update to a new totally new "jailing" format, but for sure some simple holes will be filled. There is simply not enough time to develop and test.
So in summary: I think it will be soon, but the "locks" will be very similar.
