Is it possible to get a cellphone plan with no contract that's now pay as you go?

I'd like to buy the SIM chip with out any phone or contract, is this possible in the USA?

i have tmobile w/ flexpay. you can use any of the contracted plans, and not have any contract. you just have to pay a full months service ahead.
