I reckon we could be in for a little earner here ! Once the unlocker is sorted, we can re-sell the iPhone on Ebay for a good profit. People like to know its local and can get it in a couple of days. Lets see how the prices change once an unlocker is released...

Well, I also got mine from ebay, $615 for 4gb plus $45 express USPS shipping.. Customs, though - that will also be a major expense..
Unless I persuade the officer that the thing can't be put to "any real use, wifi and BT cant be used, nothing really, I bought it only as a awesomely sexy paperweight"..

My roommate sneaked it in a few days ago at the local airport, wore it like an ipod, Iron Maiden blaring thru the headphones.. They didn't so much as look at it.

    Lucky bastard.

    Hey !

I am from Germany and going to buy an iphone next few days.

The prices at Ebay are clear but what i dont know jet is, if should by at Ebay.com or Ebay.de.

If i buy an iphone from an American seller, i better go to Ebay.com because the price there is a bit cheaper.
I wonder if i have to pay tax in germany if i get it shipped to here.
(Thats getting expensive then ! there maybe 19% tax additional !)

As far as i know nearly every shippment from outside the EU is getting opened and you have to pay Tax on it ! (otherwise you dont get the shippment !)

I you people (living in de EU) did get in iPhone per UPS (or whatever) from the US, could you tell me if you had to pay an additional tax ? (and how much)

That would help me a lot to calculate the costs and decide if i can ( and wont) afford an iPhone.

    Thanks,
    Flo

Being one of the first outside US to have iPhone, Priceless.

Had to put that in. Not bought one myself, just random prices.

customs only care if it's worth more than AUD$1,000. even then they just send you a bill along with your item. you'll be fine provided it's value is declared and not a fraudulent copy or anything. i suspect many iphone clones will be destroyed by customs. gotta love it.

Not round 'ere, mate - much to my dismay. The bill part is true, they dismember the package, poke around the contents and dispatch it to me with a piece of paper stapled to it saying that I've got to pay VAT - that's 22% of the declared value - and import fees, which are 5-10% of the declared value. The Post office charges the equivalent of $10 US for the "handling" - that's package dismemberment and 1 (one) staple.
Seen as sellers usually refuse to tag the item as "gfit with no commercial value", I'll likely end up paying two US retail prices.

But I must have it, for my roommate is driving me nuts!
