hey @lotug, I have exactly the same problem. I have just got back from hungary to UK and my phone is stuck on T-Mobile H network instead of o2-uk. It seems I actually am on o2 but the iphone carrier identification is wrong.
Ive checked all carrier bundles, done resets etc and no luck. I tried quickpwn again to 2.2 but that didnt make a difference. I havent tryed restore back to 2.1 and then upgrade again because I dont want to unless I really HAVE to.
Did you find a fix???
-
do you have BITESMS installed on it ?

hi @lotug, I dont have bitesms installed, ive just tried a reset in itunes download to 2.1 and the problem still exists - carrier says t mobile h. Only thing I was thinking was to try another o2 sim but I cant see how that would make any difference??

It happened to me after I put vodaphone sim on sim adapter several times into unlocked iphone that previously displayed correctly orange for orange sim. Here how it got "fixed".
I removed orange sim for which wrong name vodaphone was displayed all the time after above "incidents" ;-)
I put t-mobile sim, maybe important: t-mobile was never used in that iphone
For t-mobile sim t-mobile name was displayed correctly.
I removed t-mobile sim and put voda sim but without sim adapter this time,
Voda name displayed as expected. Removed voda sim and put back t-mobile sim
Voda got displayed this time for t-mobile sim !!!!!
I got nervous a little and went to made some tea.
Close to give up I removed t-mobile sim and put orange sim
This time orange name displayed.
I will never remove sim again
Either bug or result of sim-locking code it clearly shows stupidity of these people. And you reported this for iphone 2g while in my case it happened in 3g version.

Did a similar thing.
My 3g was displaying Orange while a Vodafone SIM was in it.
I inserted a real Orange SIM waited until Orange was displayed then swapped it for the Vodafone one and everything was fine.
Cheers & thanks for your help,
G.

Same problem for me on my 3.0 Jailbroken and Unlocked iPhone.
It happened when swapping sim cards while phone was on.
The Carrier Name seemed to get stuck on Orange even though the card was O2.
The fix for me was to put back the Orange Card. Select in the Carrier settings O2. The no Service error would then display. Then swap out the cards again, and this time it says O2-UK.
