Question A Way to Read Stored/Backup SMS Messages?

I was wondering, that since iTunes syncs with your iPhone everytime that it's connected, and it does sync your Text Messages, is there a way that you can get in and read the messages that have been stored? I know there's like Mobile Sync Viewer or something for Mac, but is there a windows equivalent of this? or another way of doing it?
